The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, delivering a portfolio of engineering projects across production, utilities, facilities, and infrastructure.
This is an excellent opportunity for a project-focused engineering professional with strong pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated industry experience who enjoys managing multiple projects simultaneously. You will take ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning, overseeing site upgrades, equipment installations, mechanical works, and capital investment programmes while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple engineering projects across pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
Lead projects from initial scope development through design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover.
Deliver site upgrade programmes, equipment installations, facility modifications, and mechanical engineering projects.
Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure successful delivery.
Coordinate and manage contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Ensure all project activities comply with GMP, health & safety, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct risk assessments, change controls, and project documentation in line with site procedures.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans.
Support validation, commissioning, and qualification activities where required.
Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and project delivery functions.
Skills & Experience Required
Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Project Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience managing engineering projects within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or highly regulated manufacturing sector.
Strong understanding of GMP-regulated environments and pharmaceutical industry standards.
Proven experience delivering projects involving:
Equipment installations
Mechanical engineering works
Site upgrades and facility improvements
Capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects
Excellent contractor management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience managing project budgets, timelines, and resources.
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and engineering compliance requirements.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
Project management qualifications (APM, PRINCE2, PMP) would be advantageous.
Personal Attributes
