This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled HGV mechanic with workshop management experience to lead the maintenance, compliance, and operational readiness of a diverse commercial fleet.

The successful candidate will combine hands-on mechanical expertise with workshop leadership, ensuring vehicles and specialist equipment remain safe, compliant, and available for operational requirements.

What You'll Be Doing

✅ Leading the maintenance and repair of a mixed fleet of HGVs, vans, 4x4s, and specialist vehicles

✅ Planning and managing servicing schedules, inspections, MOT preparation, and defect rectification

✅ Carrying out six-weekly inspections, preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs

✅ Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and vehicle defects efficiently

✅ Maintaining accurate service, repair, and compliance records

✅ Managing workshop housekeeping, tooling, stock control, and health & safety standards

✅ Working closely with operational and transport teams to prioritise repairs and maximise fleet availability

✅ Monitoring vehicle downtime and communicating repair updates effectively

✅ Supporting LOLER, PAT, and compliance inspections as required

✅ Driving continuous improvement and promoting a positive, solution-focused workshop culture

What We're Looking For

✔️ Proven experience managing and maintaining commercial vehicle fleets

✔️ NVQ Level 2 or 3 in HGV Maintenance, or equivalent industry experience

✔️ Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills across HGVs and light commercial vehicles

✔️ Experience with grab, tipper, tanker, jetting, or vacuum vehicles would be advantageous

✔️ Excellent understanding of vehicle compliance and record-keeping requirements

✔️ Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment

✔️ Ability to build strong working relationships across operations, transport, and management teams

✔️ Full UK Driving Licence

✔️ HGV Class C Licence (Essential)
