We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist deaf school in Wandsworth for a dedicated BSL SEN Teaching Assistant to join their experienced and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly inclusive environment where communication, independence and pupil wellbeing are at the heart of everything they do.
The Role As a BSL SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support deaf and hearing-impaired pupils across the classroom using British Sign Language (BSL).
Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging and accessible learning.
Provide one-to-one and small group interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
Adapt learning resources to ensure every child can fully access the curriculum.
Promote communication, language development, confidence and independence.
Assist pupils with additional SEND, including Autism, Speech & Language needs and learning difficulties where appropriate.
Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Work alongside Teachers of the Deaf, Speech & Language Therapists, Audiologists and other specialist professionals.The Ideal Candidate
BSL Level 2 qualification or above (essential).
Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
Passion for supporting deaf learners and promoting inclusive education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patient, caring and resilient approach.
Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Desirable
Previous experience in a deaf school, hearing resource provision or specialist SEND setting.
Experience supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH or Speech & Language needs.
Knowledge of communication strategies for deaf learners.
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification.What We Offer
