We are recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join a well-established organisation in Cambridge, helping to maintain and improve a diverse range of outdoor spaces. This is a hands-on role where you'll play an important part in ensuring the grounds and gardens remain safe, presentable and maintained to a high standard throughout the year.

Working as part of an experienced team, you will contribute to the ongoing maintenance, renewal and development of outdoor areas, while supporting wider sustainability and biodiversity initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

* Carry out a range of grounds maintenance duties across designated sites, ensuring all areas are maintained to a high standard.

* Support the day-to-day planning and delivery of grounds and garden maintenance activities.

* Assist with seasonal preparations, including the ordering and management of plants, materials and records such as chemical usage.

* Ensure the safe use, storage and maintenance of tools, equipment, vehicles and workspaces.

* Follow Health & Safety procedures and assist with risk assessments, reporting hazards and incidents where necessary.

About you:

* Previous experience within grounds maintenance, landscaping or horticulture.

* Good working knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment, tools and environmental practices.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

* A full UK driving licence, including towing capability.

* The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake physically demanding work.

It would be advantageous to have plant knowledge, experience using handheld and ride-on machinery, and familiarity with Microsoft Office, PDAs or computer-aided facilities management systems.

The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Training or certification in the use of grounds maintenance machinery would be beneficial, although this is not essential.

The role is Full-time, site-based role working approximately 34.5 hours per week. There may be occasional weekend and out-of-hours work, which will be arranged in advance.

If you are looking for a varied position where you can contribute to the upkeep and ongoing development of a large and diverse outdoor environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Please apply via the advert or contact Cheryl at The HireWorks for more information.

We endeavour to reply to every candidate, every time, but if you haven't heard back within 10 days, please understand that you have unfortunately been unsuccessful for this position, or the position has been filled. Please call the office or send an email to discuss other potential opportunities
