Contract | 6-12 months | Hybrid Working | London
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Architect to support a major Cyber Recovery Programme within a large and complex public sector organisation.
This is a key role for an architect who enjoys working at the point where strategy, technology and delivery meet. You will provide senior technical leadership across security, applications, infrastructure, data and networks, helping shape the future technology landscape and supporting the organisation through a significant period of recovery and transformation.
Working closely with the Cyber Recovery Programme Director, senior stakeholders and technical teams, you will help define architectural direction, establish governance standards and provide trusted advice on major technology decisions.
You will also chair the Technical Design Authority (TDA), ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, scalable and aligned with organisational priorities.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Providing senior architectural leadership across a broad technology estate.
- Developing and embedding architecture principles, standards and governance.
- Reviewing and challenging solution designs to ensure they are secure, practical and fit for purpose.
- Providing clear recommendations and options to programme boards and senior leadership.
- Identifying technology risks and advising on mitigation strategies.
- Championing security-by-design across all technology domains.
- Supporting the evaluation of platforms, technologies and solution approaches.
- Working collaboratively with internal teams, security specialists and external partners.
- Sharing knowledge and helping develop architectural capability across the organisation.
What we are looking for
You will be an experienced Enterprise Architect or Solution Architect with a strong background working in complex, multi-technology environments.
You should have experience across:
- Security architecture, including identity, access management, threat modelling and zero trust principles.
- Application architecture, integration patterns and enterprise systems.
- Infrastructure architecture, including cloud, compute, storage and virtualisation.
- Network architecture, including LAN/WAN, Firewalls and secure connectivity.
- Cloud and hybrid technology environments.
You will also bring:
- Experience operating within or leading a Technical Design Authority (TDA) or similar governance function.
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide evidence-based technical recommendations.
- Experience designing secure, scalable and resilient solutions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical specialists and executive-level stakeholders.
- TOGAF certification or equivalent architecture experience.
Desirable
Experience of working within Local Government, central government or another complex public sector environment would be highly advantageous, particularly where you have supported major transformation, recovery or infrastructure change programmes.
This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping technology strategy and architecture during a high-profile recovery and transformation programme. You will have genuine influence over architectural decisions and help create a more secure and resilient technology environment for the future.
