Full Stack Developer - London or Sheffield- Hybrid - 6 months

We're looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to join our engineering team on a 6-month contract. You'll work within a collaborative, cross-functional team of 4-6 engineers, taking ownership of the full software development life cycle-from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely within a small Agile engineering team, whether co-located or distributed.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, breaking work into user stories and delivering iteratively.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable applications using Java and Python.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and Back End services.
• Develop and enhance cloud-native solutions running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation to improve deployment efficiency and reliability.
• Identify technical debt and work with the team to balance platform improvements with new feature delivery.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Commercial experience developing applications using Java (Java 11/17/21 preferred) and Python.
• Experience with modern Java frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and object-oriented programming.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as Cloud Run, GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, or similar.
• Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Argo CD, or similar CI/CD technologies.
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
