Are you a motivated Chemist looking to develop your career within the hazardous waste management industry? We're looking for a proactive Site Chemist to join our clients team in the West Midlands on a 3-month temporary to permanent contract.
This is a great opportunity to learn about the waste industry whilst utilising your knowledge of wet chemistry techniques.
Working closely with the Site Management team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Transfer Station. This is a varied, hands-on role combining technical chemistry knowledge with operational support, offering excellent long-term career prospects for the right candidate.
The Role
As a Site Chemist, you will be responsible for inspecting, accepting and managing waste streams while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and site permit requirements. You'll support the day-to-day operation of the Transfer Station.
Key Responsibilities
* Process incoming waste loads in accordance with site procedures.
* Arrange and prepare outgoing waste loads.
* Maintain accurate stock control in line with the site's PPC Permit.
* Carry out pre-acceptance assessments, waste acceptance, sampling and testing.
* Complete and manage all associated documentation.
* Conduct daily inspections, logs and signage checks within the Transfer Station.
* Work closely with Site Operatives and fellow Chemists to ensure safe waste handling and segregation.
* Prepare, load and unload incoming and outgoing waste consignments.
* Pack, identify and classify waste materials at customer sites when required.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the facility.
* Ensure full compliance with Company Policies and Procedures.
* Work in accordance with all HSE, Environment Agency and relevant regulatory requirements.
* Promote and contribute to a positive, proactive safety culture.
* Maintain continuous professional development and technical competence.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties required by the business.
