Teaching Assistant & 1:1 Support Assistant - Specialist Secondary School (SEND)
Prospero Teaching is seeking compassionate, resilient and proactive Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants to work within a specialist secondary school in Fareham. The school supports pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties, and communication challenges.
This rewarding role involves providing both classroom-based and individual 1:1 support to pupils, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential in a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider school team to deliver tailored support, encourage positive behaviour, and promote independence and engagement throughout the school day.

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or communication needs
Ability to provide calm, consistent support and reassurance during periods of dysregulation
Strong behaviour management skills while maintaining a positive and nurturing environment
A motivational approach to encourage engagement, communication, and confidence
Understanding of the barriers pupils may face in accessing education and strategies to support their individual needs
Ability to adapt learning activities and provide differentiated support where required
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Patient, caring, and professional approach to supporting young people
Proactive, reliable, and reflective with a willingness to learn and develop
Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary teamRequirements
To be eligible for this role, you must:
Hold the right to work in the UK
Hold a minimum Grade C/Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), or be willing to undertake Functional Skills qualifications in these subjects
Hold an enhanced child-barred list DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
