Overview

We are seeking a dedicated KS2 Classroom Teaching Assistant to support our Junior school team in delivering high-quality education to children in Key Stage 2. This role involves working closely with teachers and pupils to foster a positive learning environment, ensuring that every child receives personalised support tailored to their individual needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, excellent communication skills, and experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities. Responsibilities

Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons across various subjects within the KS2 curriculum. Year 6.

Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils, including those with special educational needs or disabilities such as autism.

Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties to ensure they can participate fully in classroom activities.

Aid in the organisation of classroom resources and materials to facilitate smooth lesson delivery.

Monitor and record pupils’ progress, behaviour, and development, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.

Support pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities to promote social interaction and inclusion.

Foster an inclusive environment that encourages confidence, independence, and positive behaviour among pupils.

Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to implement personalised learning plans for pupils requiring additional support.

Uphold safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all children under your care.

Experience

Prior experience working with children within an educational setting is essential.

Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN), including those with autism or behavioural challenges, is highly desirable.

Background in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting individuals with disabilities will be advantageous.

Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively liaise with pupils, teachers, parents, and external professionals.

Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and strategies for supporting diverse learning needs is preferred.

A genuine passion for fostering a positive learning environment and helping children achieve their full potential is vital.
