Mechanical Fitter / Vehicle Trailer Assembler
Pay: £13.40–£15.50 per hour (DOE)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm (40 hours per week)
Location: Near Halstead, Essex
Job Type: Permanent
Transport: Own transport required due to location
Overtime: Available, paid at Time and a Half
About the Role
Our client, a leading heavy engineering manufacturer, is seeking Mechanical Fitters / Car Transporter Assemblers to join their growing team at their modern facilities near Braintree, Essex.
Working in teams of 3–4, you will be responsible for the full assembly of car transporter trailers, including fitting all key mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical components.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble and install mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
* Fit brake systems and moving vehicle decks to new-build car transporters
* Use hand and power tools to complete build tasks to specification
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
* Work as part of a team to deliver high-quality trailer builds
* Maintain accuracy, safety and attention to detail at all times
Skills & Experience
Preferred (but not essential):
* Background in vehicle or trailer fitting, automotive, or heavy engineering
* Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrics
Essential:
* Strong mechanical aptitude and assembly skills
* Ability to read technical drawings
* Competent with hand tools and workshop equipment
* Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
