The Role:
• To provide support to the Operations Director to ensure that the site equipment operates efficiently and reliably to meet both service and quality standards whilst complying with statutory and regulatory standards.
• To provide leadership within the engineering function.
Responsibilities:
• To lead the team of maintenance engineers.
• To coach, train and develop individuals in their team.
• To purchase machine parts and consumables.
• To assist in the arrangement of statutory inspections as required.
• To assist in the arrangement of external engineering specialists and service providers to support manufacturing operations and the site.
• To ensure the efficient running of all equipment to meet operational demands including the resolution of process or breakdown issues.
• To establish and operate a planned maintenance schedule including records for review and audit covering compliance to schedules and machine failure history.
• To liaise with Planning and Manufacturing, including attendance at planning meetings if required, to ensure scheduled downtime requirements are built into forward plans.
• To maintain the stock system for parts.
• To develop relationships with required external engineering specialists and service providers to support manufacturing operations.
• To support manufacturing through the review and implementation of requested continuous improvement activities as appropriate.
• To identify engineering improvements with existing processes to improve operational efficiencies and reliability.
• To monitor contractors whilst on site ensuring all adequate controls are in place for safe working including operation of the Permit to Work system as required
