Designated Safeguarding Lead (Grade 4) SEN College | Part-Time (4 Days per Week) | September Start
Josh from Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and committed Grade 4 Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join a specialist college supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) from September.
This is a part-time position, working 4 days per week, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and welfare of college-aged learners. Alongside your safeguarding responsibilities, you will also deliver mentoring, coaching, and employability sessions, helping students develop the confidence, skills, and independence they need for their future.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all safeguarding and child protection responsibilities in line with statutory guidance.
Act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns, making referrals and liaising with external agencies where appropriate.
Maintain accurate safeguarding records and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
Deliver mentoring and coaching sessions to support students personal development and well-being.
Plan and deliver employability sessions, preparing learners for further education, training, or employment.
Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.
Supporting a high number of Looked After Pupils
Supporting 14- 19 year olds with needs ranging from SEMH, ADHD, ADD, ASD, ASC, OTDD, OCD, Anxiety, Trauma, Stress and Depression
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a safeguarding leadership role, a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice, and experience working with young people with additional needs. Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills are essential.
