Location: Cwmbran, South Wales
Sector: Commercial Refurbishment

The Opportunity

An established commercial refurbishment contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join its growing commercial team based in Cwmbran.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to play a key role across the full commercial lifecycle of refurbishment projects, from tender stage through to final account. Projects are primarily commercial refurbishments delivered for public sector organisations, local authorities, and facilities management clients.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and competitive tender submissions.

* Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to accurately price works.

* Measure quantities and produce Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and tender breakdowns.

* Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.

* Support the procurement of subcontract packages and materials.

* Manage project costs throughout delivery, ensuring budgets are maintained.

* Monitor variations, valuations, and change control procedures.

* Assist with financial reporting, cost forecasting, and cash flow management.

* Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.

* Work closely with project managers and operational teams to ensure commercial success across multiple refurbishment projects.

Candidate Requirements

* Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or Quantity Surveyor/Estimator within the construction industry.

* Commercial refurbishment experience is highly desirable.

* Good understanding of estimating, cost planning, procurement, and commercial management.

* Ability to interpret technical drawings and construction specifications.

* Experience preparing tenders, pricing works, and managing project costs.

* Strong negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.

* Ability to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with estimating or commercial software would be advantageous.

* Relevant construction qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent) preferred, although practical experience will also be considered.
