Job Type: Permanent (new headcount role)

A5 Recruitment Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency for this vacancy.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm (47.5 hours per week)

About the Company
Our client is the UK's leading custom rubber compounder — part of an international group — producing high-quality rubber compounds on highly automated, fully process-controlled mixing lines. Their largest market is automotive, supplying compounds for door seals, weather strip, hoses, gaiters and engine seals. Established for over 70 years, with a strong focus on technological leadership.

The Role
An experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong hydraulics expertise, supporting the maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement of mechanical and hydraulic systems across a busy rubber mixing facility. This is a hands-on role for someone with excellent troubleshooting skills and a proven ability to diagnose complex hydraulic and mechanical failures.

* Maintain and troubleshoot Banbury/internal mixers, open mixing mills, hydraulic presses and rams, HPUs, cylinders, pumps, valves and accumulators, extrusion and material handling equipment, and cooling/utility systems

* Diagnose and rectify mechanical and hydraulic faults to minimise production downtime

* Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

* Drive reliability initiatives to improve plant availability and OEE, and support preventative/predictive maintenance programmes

* Lead and support engineering projects from design through installation and commissioning, including contractor management

* Review and update engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics and technical documentation

* Ensure compliance with H&S regulations — risk assessments, safe systems of work, permit-to-work

* Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and support the development of apprentices

What You'll Need — Essential

* You must have the legal right to work in the UK

* Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering

* Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment

* Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and components, HPUs, pumps, motors, cylinders and valves, mechanical power transmission, pneumatics, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes and rotating equipment

* Experience fault-finding and repairing complex hydraulic systems

* Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance; proficient in CMMS systems and Microsoft Office

Desirable

* Experience in rubber, polymer, tyre, chemical or process manufacturing

* Knowledge of Banbury mixers and rubber mixing equipment

* Hydraulic certification or specialist hydraulic training

* Lean Manufacturing, TPM or Six Sigma; project management experience

What's On Offer?

* £60,000 per annum

* 26 days holiday plus bank holidays

* Excellent pension: 9% employer / 3% employee contribution

* Days-based role — no shifts, no shift rotation

* New headcount position reporting to the Engineering Manager

* Free on-site parking

Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, heat and rubber processing operations; work on production equipment during planned shutdowns and breakdowns; PPE required in designated areas.

No fees are charged to candidates at any stage of the recruitment process
