Kickstart Your Career in Quantity Surveying with a Growing Residential Main Contractor

Are you looking to build a successful career in construction and become a qualified Quantity Surveyor?

We're recruiting on behalf of an ambitious and rapidly growing residential main contractor based in Cambridge who is committed to investing in the next generation of construction professionals.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join a supportive and experienced commercial team. The company will fully fund your Quantity Surveying degree, provide paid time away from the office to attend university and study, and support your development every step of the way.

If you're eager to learn, driven to succeed, and want to gain hands-on experience while earning a competitive salary, this could be the perfect role for you.

The Role

Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, you'll gain practical experience across the full commercial lifecycle of residential construction projects.

As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll take on increasing responsibility while working towards your degree and professional qualifications.

Your Responsibilities

Assist with the commercial management of residential construction projects.
Support the preparation of cost plans, budgets and valuations.
Help procure subcontractors and suppliers.
Assist with tender analysis and subcontractor negotiations.
Prepare and process subcontractor payments.
Monitor project costs and report on financial performance.
Help manage variations and change control.
Attend site meetings and work closely with operational teams.
Learn industry best practice from experienced Quantity Surveyors and senior management.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in construction and a desire to build a long-term career within Quantity Surveying.

You may already have:

A construction-related qualification (or be working towards one).
A-levels, BTEC, HNC or equivalent in Construction, Engineering or a related subject.
Previous construction experience (desirable but not essential).
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and organisation.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is ambitious, hardworking and eager to develop into a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor.

What's on Offer?

£30,000 starting salary
Fully funded Quantity Surveying degree
Paid time out of the office to attend university and study
Ongoing mentoring from experienced commercial professionals.
Clear career progression within a growing business.
Exposure to exciting residential developments.
Supportive and collaborative working environment.
Long-term career opportunities with an expanding residential main contractor.
This is much more than just a job—it's the opportunity to earn while you learn, gain invaluable industry experience, and develop into a qualified Quantity Surveyor with a company that's committed to your future.

If you're ready to take the first step towards an exciting career in construction, we'd love to hear from you.
