Our client is seeking an experienced Design Assurance Engineer - HV Plant to join a major electricity transmission programme supporting the delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects.

Working within the client's engineering team, you'll play a key role in the detailed design phase, ensuring High Voltage Plant designs meet technical standards, project requirements and industry regulations before construction.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transmission engineer looking to work on complex, high-value projects within a collaborative engineering environment.

The Role

As the Design Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing and assuring HV Plant designs submitted by design consultants and contractors, ensuring they comply with SSE engineering standards and are practical, safe and buildable.

You'll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers and construction personnel, providing technical guidance throughout the design process and resolving engineering queries to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Review and assure HV Plant design packages during the detailed design phase.
Ensure designs comply with SSE standards, project specifications and industry regulations.
Review engineering drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
Assess the buildability of proposed engineering solutions.
Respond to technical queries from designers, contractors and project stakeholders.
Work closely with construction teams to ensure designs can be delivered safely and efficiently.
Participate in technical reviews and design assurance meetings.
Identify design risks and recommend engineering improvements.
Support the successful delivery of major electricity transmission projects.

About You

You'll be a technically strong engineer with previous experience working on UK transmission infrastructure projects and a solid understanding of High Voltage Plant systems.

You'll ideally have:

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven experience within the UK electricity transmission sector.
Strong HV Plant design or design assurance experience.
Experience reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.Desirable:

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
Professional membership with IET, ICE or another relevant institution.
Previous experience working on SSE projects.
