Astutes Nuclear Team is partnering with a leading organisation within the Nuclear sector to recruit a Construction Project Engineer for its Aldermaston site.
The Construction Project Engineer role offers the opportunity to work on highly regulated, safety-critical nuclear projects, supporting construction delivery from planning through to completion. This is a fully site-based position requiring Developed Vetting (DV) clearance, with the opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams on nationally important programmes.

Responsibilities and duties of the Construction Project Engineer role

Support the successful delivery of construction projects in line with safety, quality, environmental and contractual requirements.
Prepare construction documentation including:

Control Plans
Method Statements
Risk Assessments
Lifetime Quality Record (LTQR) documentation
Develop practical engineering solutions to meet project requirements.
Coordinate with engineering, design and project management teams to raise and close Technical Queries (TQs).
Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and procurement teams to ensure plant, equipment and materials are available to programme.
Support the management and coordination of site operatives and technicians.
Assist Construction and Site Managers with project planning, cost reporting, programme updates and risk management.
Coordinate work activities through Work Authorisation procedures and construction documentation.
Support Quality Control activities, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), hold points and witness inspections.
Ensure Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) are completed to support project handover.
Support compliance with CDM Regulations, quality management systems and nuclear site procedures.
Maintain effective communication across engineering, construction and client teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Level 3 qualification in an Engineering or Construction discipline.
Relevant design qualification within your discipline.
SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
Proven construction site experience within engineering or infrastructure projects.
Understanding of construction management principles and CDM Regulations.
Experience preparing construction documentation including RAMS and quality documentation.
Strong understanding of project delivery within highly regulated environments.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Desirable:

Degree qualified in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
Experience within the UK Nuclear industry.
Membership of a relevant professional institution.
Experience with Quality Control processes and Inspection & Test Plans.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

Personal Skills

The Construction Project Engineer role would suit someone who is:

Proactive with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
Organised and capable of managing multiple priorities on site.
A strong communicator who can work effectively with engineers, subcontractors and stakeholders.
Confident making accountable decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.

Salary and benefits

£42-45.00 per hour CIS
Opportunity to work on nationally significant Nuclear projects.
