Senior Site Engineer - Technical Building Systems Salary / Rate: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum OR £350 - £450 per day Location: Nottingham, Midlands Contract: Permanent or Freelance | Start Date: October 2026
Atkinson Baker Associates are currently recruiting a precise and highly technical Senior Site Engineer on behalf of a leading Specialist Main Contractor.
The Client
Our client is a top-tier contractor delivering complex, rapid-build public sector developments across the UK. Due to the impending October start of a major new scheme in Nottingham, they require an exceptional Senior Engineer to ensure absolute dimensional accuracy before and during the structural assembly phase.
The Role
In modern, fast-track construction, millimeter precision during the foundational phases is critical. You will be responsible for ensuring the groundworks and holding-down points are perfectly aligned to receive the incoming pre-engineered structural components.
Your duties will include:
Precision Setting Out: Setting out for earthworks, drainage, foundations, and absolutely critical holding-down bolts for the incoming structural sections.
Quality Assurance (QA): Taking total ownership of site QA, ensuring the sub-structures are built exactly to tolerance so the engineered building components fit flawlessly.
Lifting & Logistics Support: Working closely with the site management team and crane supervisors to coordinate the geometric placement of structural units during the lift phase.
As-Built Surveys: Conducting regular surveys and maintaining precise as-built records. Requirements
Essential: Extensive experience operating as a Senior Site Engineer for a Main Contractor or Civil Engineering business.
Essential: A highly technical background in precise groundworks, RC foundations, and holding-down bolt setting out.
Essential: Highly proficient with modern robotic surveying equipment (Trimble/Leica) and interpreting complex AutoCAD drawings.
Qualifications: Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering and a valid CSCS Card. What's on Offer
Flexibility: Available on either a Permanent (£55k-£65k) or Contract (£350-£450 p/d) basis.
Critical Impact: A role where your engineering accuracy directly dictates the success of a fast-paced, high-profile project. Location Nottingham, Midlands. (Ideal for candidates based in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Mansfield, or the wider M1/A52 corridor).
