Luma Education Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary SEMH school seeking a passionate and resilient Maths Teacher to join their permanent teaching team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is committed to helping young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs achieve positive educational outcomes. You'll teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in small classes, building strong relationships and creating an engaging learning environment where every pupil can succeed.
Whether you already have experience in an SEMH, Alternative Provision or PRU setting, or you're an experienced secondary Maths teacher looking to move into specialist education, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons for students with SEMH needs.
Adapt teaching to meet individual EHCP targets and a range of learning abilities.
Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and academic progress.
Promote emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour through consistent classroom practice.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams and senior leaders.
Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies where required.
Contribute to a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Experience teaching Mathematics within a UK secondary school.
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for making Maths accessible to all learners.
Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills.
A calm, patient and resilient approach when working with young people with additional needs.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
Experience working within SEMH schools, Alternative Provision, PRUs or specialist settings.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches or positive behaviour support.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND, ADHD or Autism.
