Secondary Teaching Assistant - Long-Term Opportunity (September Start)

Location: Sheffield
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Long-Term

Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential? Tradewind Education is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Sheffield from September on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys working with young people and is committed to making a positive impact on students' learning, development, and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide high-quality classroom support across a range of subjects. You will help students overcome barriers to learning, encourage engagement, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
Work with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce learning.
Provide additional support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) where required.
Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a productive classroom environment.
Assist with preparing learning resources and classroom activities.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Encourage student confidence, independence, and participation.
Support students pastorally, helping to promote their wellbeing and engagement in school life.
Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety policies at all times.

Requirements

Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
A genuine passion for supporting students and helping them succeed.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
Strong organisational and teamwork skills.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
The right to work in the UK.
Relevant qualifications (such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
