Microbiology Technician
Location: Flint
Shift: 4 on 4 off Days (7:00am - 7:00pm)
Salary: £29,605 per annum
Are you an experienced laboratory professional with a passion for quality and microbiology? We're looking for a Microbiology Technician to join a busy Quality team at a leading manufacturing site in Flint.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring product safety and quality through microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and maintaining the highest laboratory standards.
The Role
As a Microbiology Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out microbiological testing and environmental monitoring to ensure products consistently meet quality and safety standards. You'll work within a fast-paced laboratory environment where accuracy, attention to detail, and compliance are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Collect, analyse and report microbiological samples.
* Prepare culture media and maintain laboratory equipment.
* Carry out environmental monitoring, including air, water and surface sampling.
* Record and review laboratory data accurately using digital and paper-based systems.
* Support internal and external audits.
* Assist with investigations into out-of-specification results and test failures.
* Follow GMP, quality and health & safety procedures at all times.
* Manage laboratory stock levels and consumables.
What We're Looking For
* GCSEs including Science (A-Level or equivalent in a science subject would be advantageous).
* A minimum of 2 years' laboratory experience, ideally within microbiology, food manufacturing or quality control.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Experience using laboratory equipment such as autoclaves and incubators is beneficial, although full training will be provided.
* A reliable and proactive approach with a strong commitment to quality, safety and compliance.
