Geotechnical Design Engineer
Location: London
Salary: £38,000 - £48,000 (depending on experience)
A growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a Geotechnical Design Engineer to join its London office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with around 2-5 years of experience who is looking to progress their career within a collaborative and technically focused team.
Working across residential, commercial, infrastructure and mixed-use developments, you will play a key role in delivering geotechnical designs from feasibility through to construction.
The Role
Undertake geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, retaining walls, earthworks and slope stability.
Interpret ground investigation data and geotechnical reports.
Produce design calculations, technical reports and specifications.
Carry out geotechnical modelling using industry-standard software.
Work closely with structural and civil engineers to deliver integrated design solutions.
Attend design meetings and provide technical support throughout project delivery.
Ensure designs are completed in accordance with relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
Requirements
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.
Approximately 2-5 years' experience in a geotechnical design role.
Experience producing geotechnical design calculations and technical reports.
Familiarity with software such as Oasys, GEO5, Slope/W, Plaxis or similar.
Good understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and current design practices.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Working towards Chartership (ICE or Geological Society) is desirable but not essential.
