Job Title: Technical Publications Engineer
Location: Huddersfield 4 days per week OR Derby 3 days per week
Role Type: Contract - OUTSIDE IR35
Duration: 12 months
Rate: £45.00 Per Hour
Our client, an established engineering consultancy, require an experienced Technical Publications Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team working complex aerospace & defence systems.
Candidates would need to hold British nationality and have lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years and be eligible for SC security clearance.
What the role of the Technical Publications Engineer entails:
Author and update installation manuals, maintenance procedures, service manuals, engineering change documentations and Assembly and disassembly instructions and any other client facing technical documentation.
Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models and BOMs to develop user centric documentation
Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing, and product teams to understand product functionality
Develop content for 2D/3D illustrations using tools such as Solid Edge or equivalent
Work within customer processes, systems, equipment, and facilities, including the maintenance of standards, procedures, processes, and SOPs in accordance with national standards, international standards, and customer requirements.
Support project meetings, supplier meetings, and customer meetings providing updates and support on metallurgy function related issues as required.
What experience you need to be the successful Technical Publications Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
Experience in engineering design role/environment involving rotating machinery
Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear box
Appreciation of bolted joint analysis, shock assessment in relation to geared transmission systems
Strong technical writing and editing skills
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and 3D models
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical assembly
Proficiency in authoring tools
Strong attention to details and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Candidate should be familiar with structural design practices and methodologies
Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gear and Gear box
