Starfyn Education is delighted to be working in partnership with an Outstanding Specialist College in Sutton to recruit a Band 6 or Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist for a maternity cover position.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly specialist multidisciplinary team supporting young people and adults with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You'll use a person-centred approach to help students develop essential communication, independence, and life skills, enabling them to achieve their educational and personal goals.
The Role As a Speech & Language Therapist, you will:
Deliver specialist Speech & Language Therapy interventions at both universal and individual levels.
Assess and manage students' communication, eating and drinking needs using formal and informal assessment methods.
Independently manage your own clinical caseload within a specialist education setting.
Support learners with complex communication needs, including the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to embed communication strategies into everyday learning.
Plan and deliver staff training, coaching and advice to ensure communication support is consistently implemented.
Liaise with families and external professionals to ensure smooth transitions into, through and beyond college.
Promote person-centred, neurodiversity-affirming practice that values independence, dignity, inclusion and positive outcomes for every learner.You'll Be Supporting Students With:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Moderate, Severe and Profound Learning Disabilities
Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)
Complex communication needs requiring AAC

Physical disabilities and associated medical needsWe're Looking For Someone Who Has:
A Degree in Speech & Language Therapy (or equivalent).
Current HCPC Registration.
Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT).
Experience supporting young people or adults with autism and complex learning disabilities.
Strong clinical knowledge of communication assessment, AAC, and eating and drinking (dysphagia) management.
Experience working within an educational or specialist SEND setting (desirable).
