Housing Choices Case Officer
A local authority is looking for an experienced Housing Choices Case Officer to join their Housing Choices team on a temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a homelessness professional who can hit the ground running, take ownership of an existing caseload, and deliver a high-quality service to customers facing housing difficulties.
This is a hybrid role, with candidates required to attend the office in Coalville at least twice per week on a rota basis.
Key Responsibilities
Manage an existing homelessness caseload from day one.
Prevent homelessness by providing comprehensive housing advice and exploring all available housing options.
Carry out homelessness assessments and investigations in line with current legislation.
Make legally robust decisions and discharge homelessness duties in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Work closely with internal teams and external partners to achieve positive outcomes for customers.
Deliver a customer-focused, outcome-driven service while maintaining accurate case records.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience managing a homelessness caseload under the current homelessness legislation is essential.
Proven experience working with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Strong homelessness casework experience with the ability to work independently.
Experience within housing advice, housing options, or homelessness prevention.
Knowledge of housing legislation relating to homelessness duties.
Experience supporting vulnerable customers with housing or housing support issues.
Understanding of Choice Based Lettings schemes.
Experience using Jigsaw is highly desirable.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
Full UK driving licence.
