SEND Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school team. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for a young child with severe and complex special educational needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with severe and complex SEND needs.
* Assist the child with their educational, social, emotional, and communication development.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to implement individual learning and support plans.
* Support the pupil's engagement in classroom activities and promote positive behaviour strategies.
* Provide personal care as required, ensuring the child's dignity, wellbeing, and safety at all times.
* Monitor and record progress, observations, and any concerns, reporting these appropriately.
* Help create an inclusive and positive learning environment for all pupils.
Essential Requirements:
* Previous experience working 1:1 with young children, particularly those with SEND.
* Experience supporting children with severe and complex needs.
* Experience providing personal care.
* A patient, caring, and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting children.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one before employment).
Desirable:
* Knowledge of autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, or other complex learning needs.
* Relevant Teaching Assistant, childcare, or SEND qualifications.
* Experience working within a school or specialist educational setting.
