Health and Safety Advisor
Altera Recruitment Group is working with a specialist Energy from Waste business to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor based in Birmingham
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established organisation operating within the UK's energy sector, where health, safety and operational excellence are at the heart of the business. The successful Health and Safety Advisor will play a key role in developing and maintaining a positive safety culture across site operations, while supporting wider Group initiatives and compliance across multiple facilities.
Working closely with the Operations Director and Head of Health and Safety, you will ensure compliance with UK legislation, ISO 45001 standards and Group procedures, whilst driving continuous improvement through engagement, auditing, investigation and coaching.
Key Responsibilities
*
Support the Operations Director with the implementation and management of all Health and Safety activities across the site.
*
Lead and promote a positive behavioural safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, ISO 45001 and Group procedures.
*
Conduct audits, inspections and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and lessons learned are shared.
*
Manage contractor compliance, inductions, permit auditing and Health and Safety reporting, including weekly performance reports.
*
Provide Health and Safety leadership during planned outages, supporting risk management, CDM compliance and operational planning.
Candidate Requirements
*
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety as a minimum.
*
Previous Health and Safety experience within Energy from Waste, Biomass, Power Generation or a similar industrial process environment.
*
Strong working knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and ISO management systems.
*
Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
*
Membership of a recognised Health and Safety professional body is desirable. Audit and incident investigation qualifications would be advantageous.
