I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor who is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Aberdeen team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join an established business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of projects, supporting delivery teams, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently while achieving value for money.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of projects from pre-contract through to completion, working closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Preparing tender and contract documentation, including bills of quantities and cash flow forecasts
• Undertaking detailed cost analysis, reporting, and commercial reviews throughout the project lifecycle
• Assisting with budget preparation, cost planning, and estimating activities
• Managing project costs, valuations, final accounts, and payment processes
• Identifying, analysing, and managing commercial risks
• Supporting value engineering and cost control initiatives
• Preparing and reviewing subcontractor packages and quotations
• Providing support with contractual matters, claims, and variations
• Producing detailed progress reports and maintaining accurate commercial records
• Ensuring compliance with company procedures, management systems, and industry standards
The ideal candidate will have:
• Previous experience working within a construction or civil engineering environment
• A strong understanding of the full project lifecycle from tender through to completion
• Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
Desirable experience:
• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards
• Experience working with civil engineering contracts and commercial systems
