Luma Education Recruitment is seeking an experienced 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Leicestershire (LE67). This rewarding long-term role involves supporting a Year 2 pupil with complex special educational needs (SEND) who is currently working at EYFS level and awaiting a specialist school placement.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEND Support Worker or Behaviour Support Assistant with a passion for making a lasting difference to a child's education and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with complex SEND.

Support learning activities tailored to an EYFS-level curriculum.

Help the pupil regulate emotions using positive behaviour support strategies.

Provide personal care with dignity and compassion when required.

Support the pupil throughout the school day, including lunchtime.

Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to implement individual support plans.

Promote the pupil's academic, social and emotional development.

Requirements

Previous experience supporting children with SEND, including complex needs.

Experience providing personal care within an educational or care setting.

Confident supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs or behaviours that may challenge.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Flexible, proactive and committed to achieving positive outcomes.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable

TeamTeach, PRICE or other positive behaviour management training.

Experience working within a primary school, SEN school, alternative provision or specialist setting.
