Role: BMS Commissioning Engineer
Location: Glasgow
Duration: 3-6 Months
General Overview:
The BMS Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for the commissioning, testing, and handover of Trend Controls and Niagara Building Management Systems across UK projects. The role ensures systems operate in accordance with design intent, consultant specifications, British Standards, and client requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
· Commission Trend and Distech/Niagara BMS systems including controllers, field devices, and networks
· Carry out point-to-point checks, I/O testing, and functional commissioning
· Configure and validate sequences of operation in line with specifications and drawings
· Commission and modify BMS software, graphics, alarms, trends, and schedules
· Tune PID control loops to optimise HVAC performance
· Diagnose and resolve BMS, HVAC, and communications faults
· Integrate third-party systems via BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, and Modbus
Outcome, Results and Key Performance Indicators:
· Commissioning activities completed in line with agreed project programmes
· Successful witness testing and client acceptance with no major defects
· Fully functional Trend and Distech control strategies and integrations
· Reduced post-handover call-backs and defects
Knowledge and Skills:
· Site experience commissioning BMS systems
· Strong understanding of HVAC plant and building services
· Ability to read UK consultant specifications, schematics, and wiring diagrams
· Proven fault-finding and problem-solving ability
· Understanding of IP networking and structured cabling
