Do you want a role where you can influence operational teams, improve health and safety performance, and support the delivery of major water infrastructure projects across Scotland?

Principal People are working with a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor to support projects across the Scottish Water framework. This is a hybrid role with regular travel to sites across Scotland, partnering closely with operational and project teams delivering essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the safe delivery of projects by providing practical health and safety advice, ensuring compliance with company procedures and UK legislation, and helping to drive continuous improvement across the framework.

This is a highly visible, site-focused position that will suit someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing operational teams, and promoting a positive safety culture through collaboration rather than enforcement.

What you will be doing:

Supporting the delivery of the HS&E strategy across the framework.
Providing practical HS&E advice and support to operational and site teams.
Reviewing Construction Phase Plans, Emergency Response Plans, RAMS and project documentation.
Conducting site inspections, HS&E reviews and environmental audits.
Supporting ISO 14001 compliance and environmental performance standards.
Investigating incidents and non-conformities, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
Monitoring HS&E performance through KPIs and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Delivering HS&E briefings, training and best practice guidance.
Supporting supply chain onboarding and ongoing HS&E performance monitoring.
Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and operational stakeholders.
You will need:

NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate as a minimum.
Experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities or water sectors.
Strong understanding of HS&E legislation, management systems and risk management.
Confident communicator with the ability to engage operational teams and stakeholders
