EYFS Teaching Assistant
Location: Darwen
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, term-time only (initially for one term, with the potential to be extended)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you a caring and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young children during the early stages of their education?

We are working with a welcoming primary school in Darwen that is looking to appoint a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to support a child joining Reception in September. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child's transition into school while working as part of a supportive Early Years team.

The Role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child starting Reception in September.
Support the child's communication, language, and social development throughout the school day.
Deliver and reinforce phonics activities to support early reading skills.
Encourage learning through play, helping to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external professionals to support the child's individual needs.
Observe and record progress, contributing to planning and review meetings where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

Have previous experience working within an EYFS setting.
Have experience supporting children with speech and language needs.
Be confident delivering and supporting phonics interventions.
Understand the importance of play-based learning and child-led development within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Be patient, nurturing, and committed to helping every child reach their full potential.
Have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
