Rotherwood Recruitment are currently recruiting Children's Support Workers to join a brand-new children's residential home in Nelson. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service supporting children and young people in a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment.

We're looking for experienced, resilient and compassionate individuals who are passionate about making a lasting difference to the lives of children with complex needs.

The Role

As a Children's Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to children and young people who may display challenging behaviours, experience mental health difficulties and have experienced trauma, including those who have previously lived in foster care or other care settings.

You'll play a vital role in helping each child feel safe, valued and supported while promoting their emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide high-quality, child-centred care and support.

* Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.

* Support children who display challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.

* Promote emotional wellbeing and resilience through a therapeutic approach.

* Help children develop independence and essential life skills.

* Follow individual care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments.

* Safeguard children and report any concerns in line with policies and procedures.

* Support children to attend education, appointments and community activities.

* Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and handovers.

* Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers and other professionals.

* Promote a safe, stable and nurturing home environment.

* Follow all health and safety, fire safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

* Previous experience working within a children's residential home or supporting children and young people is essential.

* Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, trauma and mental health needs.

* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

* Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.

* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

* Flexible to work ad hoc shifts, including evenings and weekends.

* A caring, reliable and child-focused approach.
