Rotherwood Recruitment are currently recruiting Domestic Abuse Support Workers to work on an ad hoc basis within a specialist refuge and supported accommodation service in Burnley and Nelson
This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults and families who have experienced domestic abuse, helping them rebuild their confidence, regain independence and move forward in a safe and supportive environment.
We're looking for compassionate, resilient individuals who can provide practical and emotional support while maintaining professional boundaries and delivering person-centred care using a trauma-informed approach.
The Role
As a Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will support residents living within refuge accommodation by creating a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. You'll assist with day-to-day tasks, provide emotional support and help residents access the services they need while ensuring the accommodation remains clean, safe and comfortable.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide practical and emotional support to residents affected by domestic abuse.
* Deliver support using a trauma-informed and person-centred approach.
* Build positive, professional relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
* Support residents to access healthcare, housing, benefits and other community services.
* Promote independence and confidence through individual support.
* Use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques where appropriate.
* Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of communal areas and resident accommodation.
* Carry out health and safety checks, including fire safety procedures.
* Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and handovers.
* Respond calmly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns and incidents.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
* Promote equality, dignity and respect for all residents.
* Support with admissions, departures and settling residents into the service.
* Participate in sleep-in shifts when required.
What We're Looking For
* Experience working within domestic abuse, supported housing, homelessness, mental health or a similar support setting.
* Understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding.
* Knowledge or experience of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is desirable.
* Compassionate, resilient and non-judgemental approach.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexible to work ad hoc shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.
