Rotherwood Recruitment are excited to be recruiting Support Workers for a brand-new supported accommodation service opening in Oldham, supporting young people aged 16-18 as they prepare for independent living.
This is a rewarding opportunity for experienced support workers who are passionate about helping young people overcome challenges, develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
You will provide high-quality support to both male and female young people with a range of complex needs, helping them develop independence while ensuring their safety and wellbeing. The young people you will support may present with challenging behaviours, mental health needs and a history of absconding, so you must be confident working within clear boundaries and following safeguarding procedures at all times.
This role requires someone who is firm but fair, able to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and consistently following policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide person-centred support to young people aged 16-18.
* Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
* Promote independence and develop daily living skills.
* Support young people with emotional wellbeing and mental health needs.
* Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support techniques.
* Follow missing from home and absconding procedures where required.
* Maintain a safe environment by adhering to fire safety, health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
* Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and handovers.
* Encourage engagement with education, employment and training opportunities.
* Support young people to attend appointments and access local services.
* Work closely with external professionals and multi-agency teams.
* Promote equality, dignity and respect at all times.
* Follow care plans, risk assessments and organisational policies.
* Contribute to creating a safe, stable and supportive home environment.
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience supporting young people aged 16-18 is essential.
* Experience working with challenging behaviour and mental health.
* Knowledge of safeguarding children and young people.
* Confidence managing difficult situations calmly and professionally.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to remain resilient under pressure.
* Flexible approach to shifts, including weekends where required.
