About the Company

Our client is a specialist engineering manufacturer supplying bespoke metallic products into demanding industrial markets worldwide.

They are looking for a Quality Inspector to join their UK operation. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to every aspect of manufacturing quality, from inspection and supplier liaison through to continuous improvement and quality systems.

It's an excellent opportunity for someone early in their engineering career who wants to build broad experience within a supportive manufacturing environment.

The Role

This is a varied position where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with production, purchasing and suppliers to help ensure products meet the required standards while supporting the smooth running of the business.

Your initial focus will be on goods inward inspection, basic dimensional checks, quality administration and supporting day-to-day quality activities. You'll also play an important role in stock control and supplier communication, ensuring materials meet the required standard before entering production.

As your experience grows, you'll have the opportunity to become increasingly involved with the company's Quality Management System, with the long-term opportunity to take ownership of the UK QMS.

Whether you've completed a mechanical apprenticeship or started your career through university, this role offers genuine development within a well-established engineering business.

Responsibilities

Carry out goods inward inspection of materials and components
Perform basic dimensional inspection using measuring equipment such as verniers, rulers and gauges
Raise non-conformance reports and support investigations into quality issues
Liaise with suppliers to resolve day-to-day quality concerns
Support customer quality enquiries where required
Maintain quality records and documentation
Assist with ISO 9001 quality processes
Support continuous improvement activities across manufacturing
Work closely with production to resolve quality issues
Assist with booking materials in and out and support regular stock takes
Help maintain an organised stores and inspection area What We're Looking For

0-3 years' experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
A mechanical apprenticeship, HNC/HND, degree or equivalent practical engineering experience
Experience within mechanical manufacturing, fabrication, machining, sheet metal or another industrial environment is preferred
Comfortable using basic measuring equipment
Able to read engineering drawings
Good attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving
Confident communicating with suppliers and colleagues
Organised, reliable and willing to learn Desirable

Exposure to ISO 9001
Previous inspection or quality experience
Experience using ERP or stock control systems
Knowledge of non-conformance reporting or corrective actions What's on Offer
