Senior Quantity Surveyor – Main Contractor (Large Scale Housing Developments) – Hertfordshire
Salary/Package: £75,000 – £85,000 + Travel/Car Allowance + Private Medical + Pension + Discretionary Bonus + Annual Leave
O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a leading main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team, overseeing the commercial delivery of large-scale, multi-phase housing developments across Hertfordshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected contractor with a strong pipeline of secured residential work. The successful candidate will take overall commercial responsibility for major housing developments while leading and mentoring a commercial team of up to five Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors, ensuring projects are delivered successfully from procurement through to final account.

Role Overview

Project: Large Scale Multi-Phase Housing Developments
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 + Package
Start: ASAP but can wait for the right person

Responsibilities
Taking overall commercial responsibility for the delivery of large-scale, multi-phase housing developments
Leading, mentoring and managing a commercial team of up to five Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors
Overseeing the procurement and commercial management of high-value subcontract packages through to final account
Reviewing subcontract enquiries, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award
Managing project cost reporting, CVRs, forecasting and monthly commercial reporting
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities while maintaining robust cost control throughout the project lifecycle
Working closely with operational, design and procurement teams to ensure successful project delivery
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain
Requirements
Experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor ready to step up within a main contracting environment
Previous experience delivering large-scale residential or housing developments for a main contractor
Proven experience managing multiple high-value subcontract packages and leading the commercial delivery of major projects
Previous experience managing or mentoring junior commercial staff
Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation, leadership and communication skills
Able and willing to commute to Hertfordshire
