Immediate Start
£400 - £500 Daily
Contract/Project
A London Borough is seeking a highly efficient and self-sufficient HR Business Partner to join its team on an interim basis.
This is a genuinely standalone, hands-on role within a very busy and high-volume environment. The successful candidate must be able to take ownership immediately, work with minimal direction and confidently manage competing priorities across services including Housing, Parking and Environment.
Hitting the ground running is essential.
Key responsibilities
* Providing practical, responsive HR business partnering support across several operational services.
* Managing restructuring and organisational change activity from start to finish.
* Supporting managers through consultation, redundancy, redeployment and implementation processes.
* Building effective relationships with senior managers and challenging appropriately where required.
* Working constructively with trade unions and other key stakeholders.
* Using workforce information and professional judgement to identify and resolve people-related issues.
* Supporting wider workforce planning, organisational design and change programmes.
* Managing a significant and fast-moving workload independently.
* Supporting TUPE activity where required.
The organisation currently has an established employee relations function, so the principal requirement is for a strong generalist Business Partner who can lead change, manage restructures and support demanding operational services.
About you
You will need:
* Strong experience operating as an HR Business Partner within a complex, high-volume organisation.
* Proven experience delivering restructures and organisational change.
* The ability to work independently without requiring regular management oversight or junior HR support.
* Strong stakeholder-management, consultation and influencing skills.
* Experience working with trade unions.
* A practical, organised and delivery-focused approach.
* Local government or wider public-sector experience is strongly preferred.
* TUPE experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
This is a hands-on HR Business Partner assignment rather than a senior strategic leadership post. The priority is finding someone dependable, resilient and able to deliver from the outset.
On-site requirement
Candidates must be available to work three full days per week from the Borough’s offices
