Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits (DOE)
About the Role
We are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor that delivers a wide range of infrastructure projects across Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Planner to support the successful delivery of highways, infrastructure, utilities, earthworks and public realm projects.
Working closely with the Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operations teams, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring and maintaining project programmes from tender stage through to project completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed tender and contract programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
Develop baseline programmes, construction methodologies and sequencing for civil engineering projects.
Monitor project progress and update programmes throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify programme risks, critical path activities and opportunities to improve delivery.
Attend client, subcontractor and internal planning meetings.
Work alongside Project Managers and Site Teams to ensure programmes accurately reflect site progress.
Produce short-term look-ahead programmes and recovery plans where required.
Assist with Extension of Time (EOT) claims and programme-related contractual submissions.
Analyse project performance against programme and provide regular reports to senior management.
Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractor activities to support project delivery.
Ensure planning activities comply with contractual obligations, health & safety requirements and company procedures.
Support bid submissions by producing construction programmes, logistics plans and methodology statements.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Planner within Civil Engineering or Infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
Experience planning highways, utilities, drainage, earthworks, reinforced concrete or infrastructure projects.
Proficient in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and project controls.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
Membership of a relevant professional body (ICE, APM or CIOB).
Experience working on local authority or framework contracts.
Knowledge of Power BI or project reporting software.
