An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established consultancy supporting one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes.
This role offers the chance to work on the National Grid's major network upgrade programme - a nationally significant investment focused on modernising and strengthening the UK's electricity transmission network. This long-term programme will play a key role in improving energy security, increasing network capacity, and supporting the transition to renewable energy, making it an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a high-profile, career-defining project.
Based from the Manchester office two days per week, you'll work closely with an experienced commercial team, receiving hands-on support and mentoring while developing your quantity surveying career. The role also includes site visits to Birmingham approximately 1-2 times per month, providing valuable exposure to project delivery and the opportunity to build strong relationships with project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with the commercial management of NEC contracts.
Supporting cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control.
Preparing and reviewing applications for payment, valuations, and change management.
Assisting with subcontract administration and commercial documentation.
Producing accurate reports and maintaining project records using Microsoft Excel.
Working collaboratively with project teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
Attending site visits to gain practical project experience and support project delivery.
About You
Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveying role.
Good working knowledge of NEC contracts.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
Able to work from the Manchester office two days per week and travel to Birmingham for site visits 1-2 times per month.
