An established and highly respected electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its growing team in Leeds. Working across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and public sector projects, you'll play a key role in securing profitable contracts by producing accurate, commercially focused estimates.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, this is an excellent opportunity for an estimator looking to join a stable business with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality electrical installations.
The Role
As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate tenders for projects ranging from £50,000 to £1.5/2 million. You'll work closely with internal teams and clients, identifying commercial risks, value engineering opportunities, and ensuring a seamless handover of successful projects.
Key Responsibilities
Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to quantify labour, materials and project requirements.
Prepare detailed electrical estimates for both pre-designed and design & build projects valued between £50k and £1.5m.
Identify commercial risks, assumptions and exclusions to protect project profitability.
Recommend alternative installation methods and value engineering solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Attend pre-tender, mid-tender, post-tender and site meetings, providing technical and commercial input.
Support the contract award process and ensure a smooth handover to project delivery teams.
Maintain current knowledge of material costs, market trends and industry developments to produce competitive bids.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience estimating electrical projects within the commercial sector.
Experience pricing projects valued between £50k and £1.5m.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify financial risks and opportunities.
Proficiency with estimating software, including Trimble Contract Master, along with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Excellent knowledge of electrical installations, construction methods and materials.
Strong organisational skills with a methodical approach and excellent attention to detail.
Desirable
NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/ONC or equivalent electrical qualification.
Experience working with NICEIC or ECA accredited contractors.
Previous involvement in design & build projects and value engineering.
Knowledge of JCT and NEC contract frameworks.
