Belmont Recruitment are recruiting for a Hostel Support Worker to join a 24-hour supported accommodation service in South West London. This is a permanent opportunity within a well-established homelessness charity supporting adults with complex needs, including mental health, substance misuse, trauma and histories of rough sleeping.

This role would suit an experienced Housing Support Worker, Project Worker, Resettlement Worker or Key Worker with a background in homelessness services or supported housing.

As a Hostel Support Worker, you will:

*

Manage a small caseload, providing person-centred and trauma-informed support

*

Complete and review risk assessments, support plans and safeguarding referrals

*

Support residents with mental health needs, substance misuse and complex needs

*

Respond to incidents, safeguarding concerns and crisis situations

*

Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour

*

Maintain accurate case notes and GDPR-compliant records

*

Carry out welfare checks and ensure the safety and security of the hostel

*

Work both independently and as part of a team (including lone working)

This is a hands-on role within a 14-bed hostel environment, requiring resilience, empathy and strong professional boundaries.

Essential Experience

*

Experience supporting people experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping

*

Background in supported accommodation, hostels, temporary accommodation or housing support

*

Knowledge of safeguarding adults and risk management

*

Experience working with individuals with mental health, substance misuse or complex needs

*

Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner

*

Strong written and verbal communication skills

*

Confident using IT systems for case recording and reporting

Desirable

*

Knowledge of trauma-informed practice

*

Direct hostel experience

*

Mental Health, First Aid or safeguarding training

*

Understanding of local homelessness or community services
