Senior Quantity Surveyor
Our client, a prominent player in the power utilities and power distribution sector, is currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Bridgwater. This permanent full-time role offers a hybrid work model, involving on-site presence three days per week. The successful candidate will be a key commercial leader on Project Agratas, a significant 13km cable route scheme in London, providing robust financial and contractual control under NEC forms of contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Administering NEC3/NEC4 contracts with a focus on maintaining robust commercial governance
Managing high-value subcontractor accounts, including variations, claims, negotiations, and final accounts
Producing, reviewing, and presenting CVRs, forecasts, and commercial reports to senior stakeholders
Providing commercial leadership and support to QS/SQS colleagues working on the project
Maintaining accurate commercial documentation and ensuring compliance with internal audit requirements
Regular on-site presence to support commercial, operational, and client needs
Managing change control processes, early warnings, and compensation events
Collaborating with engineering, delivery, and commercial teams to ensure alignment on cost, risk, and programme
Building strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives
Job Requirements:
Essential:
Extensive experience in commercial management or quantity surveying roles on live NEC projects
Strong subcontractor management experience, including negotiation and final account settlement
Proven CVR, forecasting, and cost management expertise
Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (RICS accredited preferred)
Strong technical mindset, high attention to detail, and excellent work ethic
Experience working on cable route, civil engineering, utilities, or M&E schemes
Ability to mentor and support junior commercial team members
Desirable:
Chartered or working towards chartership (RICS)
