Are you a Maintenance Engineer looking for long-term job security, genuine career progression and the opportunity to develop your skills within a major UK manufacturing group?
We are working with a leading food manufacturing business operating multiple production sites across the UK, supplying major retailers and foodservice customers nationwide. The West Bromwich facility is a large-scale poultry processing operation where engineering plays a critical role in maintaining production performance, product quality and operational efficiency.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering team supporting a highly automated production environment. The site continues to invest in both equipment and people, creating an environment where engineers are encouraged to develop their technical skills, contribute to improvement projects and build long-term careers.
Unlike many maintenance roles where the focus is purely reactive, this engineering team is heavily involved in preventative maintenance, reliability improvements and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll work alongside experienced engineers within a structured team where support, training and knowledge sharing are part of the culture, with genuine opportunities for progression across a large multi-site manufacturing group.
Responsibilities of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:
Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production and processing equipment
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime
Work on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, drives, sensors, pneumatics and automated production systems
Support continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability and performance
Conduct root cause analysis to eliminate recurring faults
Support planned shutdowns, equipment upgrades and engineering projects
Work closely with production teams to maximise plant availability and efficiency, in line with site safety standards
Skills & Qualifications of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification, ideally apprentice-trained
Electrical, Mechanical or Multi-Skilled maintenance background
Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food production or automated environments
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with experience on automated production equipment (PLC fault-finding advantageous)
Positive, proactive approach with strong communication and team-working skills
Benefits of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:
Salary of £49,000 per year
Long-term career stability within a major UK manufacturing group
Structured engineering team with strong technical support
Training and ongoing development opportunities
Genuine opportunities for internal progression across multiple UK sites
Exposure to automated production equipment and engineering projects
Employee wellbeing and support programmes
