Monday – Thursday | 8:45am – 3:00pm

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to ensure every student can access learning in a safe, inclusive, and supportive setting. You’ll be hands-on throughout the college day, championing each learner’s progress and well-being.

Responsibilities

Support students with complex learning needs throughout the college day
Assist with personal care, toileting, changing, and hygiene with dignity and respect
Help students with mobility, positioning, and moving and handling following care plans
Work alongside teachers, therapists, and professionals to support learning programmes
Encourage communication, independence, and social development using personalised approaches, including AAC where appropriate
Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

Skills and Experience

Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Health & Social Care, or equivalent
Extensive experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND needs
Experience providing personal care in an education or care setting
Confident supporting students with physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs
Caring, patient, and flexible approach
Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Available to start in September 2026 and commit to a long-term role

Location: Aston, specialist post-16 SEND college
Contract: Long-term, starting September 2026
Salary: £14.61 per hour
