Monday–Thursday 07:00–15:30 | Friday 07:00–12:00
An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Mechanical Build/Rig Technician to join the Test & Development team of a leading global engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Peterborough.
Working within a busy engine development environment, you'll play a key role in building, stripping, rebuilding and preparing diesel engines for testing, supporting a range of current and future development programmes.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
Building, stripping and rebuilding diesel engines
Preparing engines for testing within dedicated test facilities
Rigging and de-rigging engines
Diagnosing mechanical faults and supporting root cause investigations
Working closely with engineering and test teams to support development activities
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
Maintaining accurate build records and ensuring high quality standards
Supporting Lean, 5S and continuous improvement initiativesWhat We're Looking For
You'll ideally have experience in one or more of the following:
Engine build and mechanical assembly
Engine overhaul, repair or maintenance
Automotive, HGV, plant machinery, military or aerospace engineering
Engine test, development or workshop environments
Mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle EngineeringMilitary engineering backgrounds and candidates with transferable mechanical assembly experience are also encouraged to apply.
