Land Officer / Surveyor (Infrastructure & Agricultural Liaison)

South West England | Full‑time | Infrastructure & Rural Projects

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Land Officer / Surveyor to join a major infrastructure project team supporting a leading client in the water sector. This role combines land access, agricultural liaison, and on‑site coordination across the South West, working closely with project teams, contractors, landowners, and occupiers.

The position will be based in either Taunton or Exeter, with regular travel across the wider project area.

Key Responsibilities

Build strong working relationships with landowners and occupiers.

Work collaboratively with contractor teams on access and survey requirements.

Arrange and undertake pre‑entry records of condition.

Liaise with survey teams to ensure safe and timely access to land.

Maintain ongoing communication with landowners, addressing issues as they arise.

Keep stakeholders informed about construction activities and project requirements.

Support the project team with all matters relating to land access and permissions.

Record stakeholder interactions and contribute to weekly/monthly reporting.

Attend project meetings and monitor for any conflicting information affecting landowners.

Proactively flag potential issues to the project team.

Coordinate tasks required to secure consents and minimise landowner impact.

Negotiate heads of terms and compensation claims.

Deliver best practice and uphold professional standards at all times.

Team Environment

You will be joining a collaborative infrastructure and rural projects team supporting utility and major infrastructure schemes across England and Wales. The environment encourages professional development, knowledge sharing, and progression, with access to training, mentoring, and opportunities to broaden your skillset.

What We're Looking For

Strong rural and agricultural knowledge.

Ideally a surveying or agricultural degree/qualification (not essential).

Full UK driving licence.

Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Self‑motivated, organised, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Problem‑solving mindset with a proactive approach.

Strong IT skills, including GIS awareness.

Understanding of relevant legislation (preferred).

Why Join Us?

This is a chance to play a key role in a major infrastructure programme, working directly with landowners, contractors, and project teams to ensure smooth delivery and positive stakeholder relationships. You'll be part of a supportive, forward‑thinking environment where your contributions genuinely matter
