About the Role
Lead transport projects that make streets safer, greener, and easier to navigate. We are looking for an experienced Principal Transport Planner to join the Streetscene team and drive high-impact sustainable transport improvements. You will lead a team, oversee complex projects and provide expert advice to senior stakeholders, councillors, developers, residents and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a high-performing Transport Planning team.
Deliver transport projects, policies and programmes from concept to completion.
Provide senior technical advice on transport planning, traffic management and public realm matters.
Build strong relationships with developers, consultants, residents, councillors and internal teams.
Manage budgets, resources, risks, consultants and contractors.
Ensure schemes meet legislation, policy requirements and Council priorities.
Deputise for the Sustainable Transport and Engagement Manager when required.
About You
You will be a confident transport planning professional who can lead people, influence decisions, and deliver results in a busy public-sector environment.
Significant post-qualification experience in transport planning.
Proven ability to deliver complex transport projects.
Experience leading, supervising and motivating staff.
Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Solid knowledge of transport planning, traffic management, legislation and policy.
Experience managing budgets, consultants, contractors and competing priorities.
Relevant qualification in Transportation Planning or a related discipline.
