Construction
Immediate Start
£280 - £280 Daily
Temporary
Location: Lutterworth, Leicestershire
Start: Monday
Duration: Initially 1 week, with the possibility of running into the following week and potentially through to Monday / Tuesday after that depending on programme and handover requirements
Rate: £280 per shift to start with
Hours: 7:30-5pm Monday to Friday
Overview
Bee Construction, trading as Site Managers, is recruiting on behalf of a client for additional Site Managers to work on a project in Lutterworth.
This is a live and fast moving warehouse environment where the client is bringing stock and operations teams into certain areas of the building ahead of the agreed handover date. Construction activity is still ongoing, so the requirement is for extra Site Managers to help safely manage those operational areas within the wider CDM zone.
This is not a traditional build management role where you are driving the programme in the usual sense. It is more about controlling access, keeping people safe, escorting the client’s teams through designated operational zones, and making sure the interface between construction and operations is managed properly.
The role
The Site Managers brought in for this will each be responsible for a specific area of the warehouse operation while stock is being moved in and operations teams are active on site.
The work will involve a lot of moving around the warehouse on foot, communicating with client operations staff, maintaining boundaries between operational and construction areas, and making sure the site remains safe and controlled at all times.
This is a proactive role rather than a desk-based one. The right person needs to be switched on, presentable, physically capable, and comfortable speaking with people throughout the day.
Key duties
Manage a designated operational area within the live warehouse environment
Escort client operations staff and other authorised personnel safely between areas of site
Maintain safe separation between the client’s operational activity and ongoing construction works
Make sure construction operatives do not enter restricted operational zones and vice versa
Monitor access routes and keep people moving safely around site
Act as a visible management presence within the assigned area
Liaise with the client’s operations team in a professional and proactive way
Communicate clearly with the wider site team and raise issues quickly if anything changes
Support general health and safety compliance on site
Ensure the working area remains organised, controlled and safe throughout the shift
Assist with any permits, briefings or paperwork required from the site management side
Be comfortable working in a hot warehouse environment and being on foot for most of the day
What the client is looking for
The client has made it clear that they want people similar in style to Julian, meaning:
Proactive
Client facing
Good communicators
Physically mobile and comfortable being on their feet all day
Calm under pressure
Presentable and professional
Able to take ownership of an area without overcomplicating things
Comfortable in a busy environment with a lot going on around them
This is not about finding the most technical Site Manager in the world. It is about finding someone competent, sensible and reliable who can keep their area under control and represent the project properly.
Essential requirements
SMSTS
First Aid
Previous Site Manager or Site Supervisor experience
Strong communication skills
Comfortable working in a live warehouse environment
Physically fit enough to cover a large site on foot throughout the day
Able to deal with client operations staff in a calm and professional manner
Confident enforcing boundaries, access control and safe working arrangements
Available to start Monday
Preferred
Fire Marshal
Warehouse, logistics, industrial or live environment experience
Experience working on large sites
Experience in roles involving client interface and site coordination
Important notes for screening
This role will involve a lot of walking and standing
The warehouse environment is hot and busy
The person needs to be proactive, not passive
Attitude and communication are as important as qualifications
Someone too slow, too rigid or not comfortable around people will not suit it
This is short term cover / support, so people need to be flexible and ready to step in quickly
