Role Overview - Operational Acceptance Tester

The Operational Acceptance Tester (OAT) supports the execution of Operational Acceptance Testing activities to ensure systems are operationally ready before production deployment.

Working under the guidance of senior testers and test leads, you will execute operational test scenarios, document results, identify defects, and help ensure successful production readiness.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Testing

  • Execute Operational Acceptance Testing according to approved test plans.

  • Perform operational readiness validation before production releases.

  • Execute operational test cases and document results accurately.

  • Support production readiness assessments.

Operational Test Activities

Assist in testing activities including:

  • Monitoring and alert validation

  • Backup and restore testing

  • Batch processing validation

  • Basic failover testing

  • Operational support checks

  • User access verification

  • Environment readiness validation

Defect Management

  • Log defects with clear evidence.

  • Retest resolved issues.

  • Maintain operational test documentation.

  • Produce accurate execution reports.

Collaboration

  • Work with QA, Developers, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Support teams.

  • Participate in test planning and daily Agile ceremonies.

  • Support release validation activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Follow established testing standards and best practices.

  • Contribute ideas to improve operational testing processes.

  • Continuously develop operational testing knowledge.

Required Experience

  • 2-4 years of Software Testing experience.

  • Exposure to Operational Acceptance Testing or Production Readiness Testing.

  • Experience executing SIT and UAT test cases.

  • Understanding of software testing principles.

  • Experience using defect tracking tools.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

  • Experience working in Agile teams.

Nice to Have

  • Basic exposure to AWS or Azure.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools.

  • Understanding of ITIL concepts.

  • Knowledge of release and deployment processes.

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines.
